PASSION SUNDAY

This week, Holy Week, Our Lord taught us how to live and how to love. There are many lessons we can learn from Our Lord’s Passion and Death.

One lesson is forgiveness. We, mankind, are sinners. Our Lord has good reason to punish us, but instead, He punished Himself. By His Passion and Death, Our Lord took our punishment on Himself and removed all punishment from us.

Our God and Our Creator, who is innocent, chose to suffer a cruel Passion and Death so that we, His creature, who is guilty would be forgiven. Hanging by nails on the Cross, Our Lord proclaimed: “Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.”

Through Our Lord’s Passion and Death, we learn that we are loved without measure and loved unconditionally, and that we are called to be love as God is Love.

Holy Week ideally should be a week’s retreat, where we try to be completely focused and attentive to God’s Grace, the Holy Spirit, and where we try to stay in prayer.

St John Paul II is an inspiration:

A friend of his commented: “No sooner does he pause, he starts praying.”

Cardinal Schonborn observed: “The Holy Father looked as though he never stopped praying. I never saw anyone so constantly in union with Christ and God, as though it were a permanent state.”

This week, Our Lord proved that He gives all of His Heart to each one of us, let us give all of our heart to Him.

Our challenge is to return love for love!

GOSPEL REFLECTION In today’s Gospel, Our Lord makes the remarkable statement “Where I Am, you maybe too.” Our Lord by saying: “I Am” is saying that He is God. “I Am” is the title for God. When Moses
